I love Google just as much as you do, I answer my friend. "You know, everything I want to discover I google," Ilse tells me. It's a source of information, a library on it's own. And google scours the information, there is nothing you have to do then properly spell the information to be found.
Google is easy. But we know, we're getting older. The youth wrapped and apps as if they can't survive without this virtual oxygen. There is no way that we as 30something can catch up with their speed and ability to learn what´s new. I really thought that my friend meant abs (don´t we love muscles) instead of apps. She couldn´t really explain what it is. And there I spend some time to learn what app is and if I can use it on my phone.
I understand all the text messaging and even learnt to Skype, thanks to my friend Susie. How cool that is, to even speak and watch (and all at the same time) friends who live far away. For those things this new communication is perfect. I love to make photo´s from all the lovely moments where I land in while on the way. But to app is something new for me. I see people do it all the time. I watch the fingers go on the screen of the mobile, like they are reading a book. And so quik! One part of me is curious and needs to learn this brand new thing. I need to catch up with the youth. I don't want to be catched up by time. Another part of me knows I´m already too late. The moment I know what app is and have learnt to work with it, there will be a brand new thing that is the virtual newest. I need some new virtual lungs!
